1. Governance & Organizational Structure
The Aliens Love Humans Foundation operates under a structured governance system designed to ensure accountability, transparency, and mission-focused decision-making.
Our organization includes:
- Founding Members
Provide strategic oversight, organizational continuity, and final approval on major decisions, in alignment with governing bylaws. - Common Members
Participate in decision-making and represent the interests of the community and the programs we serve. - Board of Directors
Oversees operational, financial, and ethical management of the foundation, as defined in our bylaws. The Board manages programs, budgets, audits, and strategic planning. - Committees
Including Finance & Audit, Ethics & Compliance, Resource Development, Strategic Planning, and others designated by the Board.
This layered structure ensures no single individual holds unchecked decision-making power, and that leadership decisions follow documented policies, voting procedures, and accountability standards built into our bylaws.
2. Policies & Accountability
The foundation operates under formal nonprofit governance policies to protect the integrity of our mission and the trust of the community.
Key policies include:
Conflict of Interest Policy
All Board members, officers, and team members must disclose real or potential conflicts. Anyone with a conflict must recuse themselves from related decisions and votes.
Ethics & Conduct Standards
We maintain high expectations of honesty, professionalism, fairness, and legal compliance. Ethical standards are reviewed and enforced by the Ethics & Compliance Committee.
Financial Oversight
- Financial controls and approval levels are clearly defined in our bylaws.
- Large expenditures require approval by multiple leadership bodies, including Founding Members when appropriate.
- All financial records are maintained according to GAAP standards, and annual independent audits are conducted.
Whistleblower Protection
Anyone may report misconduct in good faith, without fear of retaliation. All reports are evaluated by the Ethics & Compliance Committee or an appointed independent reviewer.
3. Legal Status & Compliance
The Aliens Love Humans Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation organized in the State of California under the California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law.
The organization is aligned with the requirements of IRS Section 501(c)(3) governing charitable educational organizations, and all activities are carried out in compliance with nonprofit regulations.
We do not:
- Support political candidates
- Discriminate based on race, gender, national origin, religion, or disability
- Engage in activities that would jeopardize nonprofit standing
Copies of legal filings, registration documents, and governance materials are available upon request.
4. Transparency & Reporting
We believe donors, community partners, and the public deserve visibility into how our organization operates and how resources are used.
We commit to:
- Publishing financial statements and program reports annually
- Conducting independent audits
- Maintaining open Board records and meeting minutes in accordance with California law
- Making governance policies available to the public upon request
We also track and report:
- Community impact outcomes
- Program participation
- Fund allocation
- Short-, mid-, and long-term strategic goals
As the foundation grows, financial reports and impact statements will be published annually on this website.
5. Donor Rights & Responsible Stewardship
The Aliens Love Humans Foundation honors the trust placed in us by donors, sponsors, and grant-makers. We commit to:
- Using contributions only for mission-focused programs and services
- Maintaining clear and accurate financial records
- Protecting donor privacy (we never sell donor data)
- Providing documentation of contributions upon request
- Ensuring all major decisions involving donor funds follow governance procedures defined in our bylaws
- Financial reports
- Annual filings
- Board-approved policies
- Documentation for tax purposes
